Mutant/mutation
The mutant expresses GFP under the control of the hsp70 promoter. This promoter is a constitutive promoter, most likey to result in GFP expression in most life cycle stages of P. berghei comparable to mutants expressing GFP under the constitutive eef1a promoter (for example see RMgm-5).

Additional remarks genetic modificationConF parasites were generated using a construct that integrates by double crossover integration of the gfp expression cassette at the dhfr-ts locus. The gfp coding region was fused to the upstream and downstream regions of the hsp70 gene and the resulting expression cassette was inserted between the pyrimethamine-resistant, mutant dhfr-ts gene and its downstream region (targeting construct).
